For the DJI Osmo Action 6

DJI Osmo Action 6 ND Filters: Snap-On or Screw-In

The Osmo Action 6 takes ND filters in two different ways, and that is the choice that matters. DJI's own ND Filter Set snaps on over the stock lens cover, with ND8, ND16 and ND32 and a case in the box. SmallRig, Telesin and Mingven also snap on. PolarPro, K&F Concept, Neewer and Amazear sell screw-in kits that take the place of the cover, and the kits differ in strengths as well as in mount.

Your Action 5 Pro filters will not do. DJI's compatibility list crosses out the older Osmo Action ND Filters Set and the Action 5 Pro Glass Lens Cover for the Action 6, and gives the Action 6 its own ND set and its own Glass Lens Cover.

Ten products were checked for this guide: the DJI set, DJI's older set as the documented wrong answer, PolarPro's Shutter Collection and seven Amazon kits, one of which is for the Macro Lens and not the camera. DJI publishes fit for its own parts only, so every non-DJI fit below is the maker or seller stating it, read on the date shown.

Install note

Read on DJI USA's product page on 2026-10-17: "Osmo Action 6 ND Filter Set", compatibility "Osmo Action 6", ND8, ND16 and ND32 filters and a filter case in the box, set dimensions 143.5 x 52.2 x 11.2 mm and weight 19 g. The page says snap-on mounting needs no removal of the lens cover and does not affect the camera's waterproofing. DJI's compatibility list ticks this set for the Action 6 and nothing else. Two owners of the set say on Trustpilot they use it on the Action 6 in bright sun and for water reflections; neither mentions fit. A maker-sold part: the link is not tagged and earns nothing.

PolarPro Shutter Collection for DJI Osmo Action 6

ND8, ND16 and ND32 on custom Action 6 threads, with a hard case. PolarPro says it fits inside the DJI housing.

Install note

Read on PolarPro's own page on 2026-10-17: the Shutter Collection "Includes ND8, ND16 & ND32 filters + protective hard case", "Osmo Action 6 Only", with "custom threads designed specifically for the Osmo Action 6 camera". Its FAQ says the filters are sold in sets only, that they do fit inside the Protective Housing made by DJI, and that they do not fit the Action 5, being "custom designed for the Action 6". That is PolarPro stating it, not DJI. A maker-sold part: the link is not tagged and earns nothing.

The first bullet says it is designed for the Osmo Action 6 and the fifth says it is a "secure screw-in fit rather than a push-on design" and a replacement for the original protective lens. The listing says ND16, ND64 and ND256 reduce exposure by "3 to 5 stops", which does not match the strengths it names; read the strength, not the stop line. Fit is the seller stating it, not DJI.

DJI Osmo Action ND Filters Set (Action 5 Pro, 4, 3)

Read on DJI's Osmo Series accessory compatibility list on 2026-10-17: the row "Osmo Action ND Filters Set" is ticked for the Osmo Action 5 Pro, 4 and 3 and crossed for the Osmo Action 6, which has its own "Osmo Action 6 ND Filter Set" row. The same list crosses out the "Osmo Action 5 Pro Glass Lens Cover" for the Action 6, so the cover a filter sits on is not shared either.

Strengths by kit

DJI. ND8, ND16 and ND32, per DJI USA's product page. Check the strengths on the page you order from.

Same three strengths, different mount. PolarPro's Shutter Collection, SmallRig 5895, K&F Concept and Neewer FL-B100 all give ND8, ND16 and ND32. SmallRig, K&F and Neewer add a polariser. Neewer's listing puts the three at 3, 4 and 5 stops.

Darker. Mingven gives ND16, ND32 and ND64 with a polariser, so it starts a stop darker than the ND8 kits. Amazear's ND16, ND64 and ND256 go darker still, and its listing states "3 to 5 stops" for them, which does not match the strengths it names. Read the strength, not the stop line.

Variable. Telesin sells one dial, VND 2 to 32, plus a polariser and a UV filter, snap-on. It is the only variable ND of the kits checked.

Do Osmo Action 5 Pro filters fit?

Not DJI's. On DJI's Osmo Series compatibility list the row "Osmo Action ND Filters Set" is ticked for the Action 5 Pro, 4 and 3 and crossed for the Action 6. The "Osmo Action 5 Pro Glass Lens Cover" is crossed for the Action 6 too, and the Action 6 has its own ND set and its own Glass Lens Cover. PolarPro says the same about its own range: the Action 6 filters are "custom designed for the Action 6" and do not fit the Action 5. No source we found says a third-party Action 5 Pro filter seats on the Action 6, so none is linked here.

Filters with the Macro Lens or FOV Boost Lens

DJI sells an Osmo Action 6 Macro Lens and an FOV Boost Lens. Its product pages say nothing about using an ND filter with either, so whether DJI's ND set stacks with them is not published. DJI does say the Macro Lens is only splash-resistant and not for diving, and that the camera is waterproof to 5 m with the FOV Boost Lens on. Freewell sells an ND8 to ND64 kit made for the Macro Lens, and its title says it is compatible only with that lens, so it is not a filter for the bare camera and is marked that way below. If you shoot with either lens, the DJI pages are the only first-party word there is, and they are silent on filters.

What to check before you buy

  • Name the camera. Buy a kit whose title says Osmo Action 6. A title that names only an older Action is not enough, since DJI lists the two generations as separate parts.
  • Snap-on or screw-in. DJI says its snap-on set needs no lens cover removal and does not affect waterproofing. Neewer's listing says to remove the original lens and screw on. Check which you are buying, because a screw-in kit swaps the cover out.
  • Start strength. ND8 is the lightest strength in most kits. Mingven and Amazear start at ND16.
  • Polariser or not. DJI does not include one. SmallRig, K&F, Neewer, Mingven and Amazear do.
  • Housing. PolarPro says its filters fit inside the Protective Housing made by DJI. No other seller here addresses the Osmo Action 6 cases question, and the DJI Waterproof Case is the part to check first.
  • Maker-sold sets. DJI USA and PolarPro sell direct, and those two links are not tagged.
  • Mounting the camera. Which adapters fit the body is on the Osmo Action 6 mounts page.

What we could not verify

DJI publishes fit for its own ND set and for nothing else, so the fit of every other kit is its seller's statement. The only owner reports we found for DJI's set are two Trustpilot lines saying it works for sun and water reflections; they say nothing about seating or fit. We found no independent test of vignetting or colour cast on any of these kits, and we did not repeat the sellers' claims about it. Whether DJI's snap-on filters stack with the Macro or FOV Boost Lens is not published. If you have mounted any of these, tell us and we will add your report as the source.

Questions owners ask

Does the DJI Osmo Action 6 come with ND filters?

DJI lists the Osmo Action 6 ND Filter Set as its own product, with ND8, ND16 and ND32 and a case.

Do Osmo Action 5 Pro ND filters fit the Action 6?

No, according to DJI. Its compatibility list crosses the older Osmo Action ND Filters Set and the Action 5 Pro Glass Lens Cover for the Action 6, which has its own ND set. We found no source for any third-party carry-over.

Are Osmo Action 6 ND filters snap-on or screw-in?

Both exist. DJI, SmallRig, Telesin and Mingven snap on over the stock cover, per their listings. PolarPro, K&F Concept, Neewer and Amazear screw in and replace it.

Do ND filters affect the Osmo Action 6 waterproofing?

DJI says its snap-on set does not affect the camera's overall waterproofing. DJI says nothing about third-party kits, so their waterproof claims are the sellers' own.

Can I use an ND filter with the Macro Lens or FOV Boost Lens?

DJI has not said. Its Macro Lens and FOV Boost Lens pages are silent on filters. Freewell sells a kit for the Macro Lens only.
