For the DJI Osmo Action 4

DJI Osmo Action 4 ND Filters: Which Sets Fit

The Osmo Action 4 has one filter question that matters: which ND set sits correctly on this camera. DJI answers it for its own parts. The Osmo Action ND Filter Set, with ND8, ND16 and ND32 and a case, is ticked for the Action 4 on DJI's accessory lists and its USA store page names the Action 5 Pro, 4 and 3. The set presses on without detaching the Glass Lens Cover, and DJI says that leaves waterproof performance alone. TechRadar used DJI's ND pack on the Action 4 for its review.

The newer Osmo Action 6 set is not the answer. DJI's current compatibility list crosses it out for the Action 4 and gives the Action 6 its own Glass Lens Cover, so a guide written for the newer camera does not carry over. The Action 4 has its own Glass Lens Cover too, ticked for the Action 4 only.

Seven products were checked for this guide: DJI's set, DJI's Action 6 set as the documented wrong answer and five Amazon kits. DJI publishes fit for its own parts only, so every third-party fit below is the seller's own statement, read off the listing on 2026-09-10 and not re-opened on the day this page was written.

Snap-on, push-in and magnetic kits

DJI. ND8, ND16 and ND32 in a case, pressed onto the lens cover. DJI states the waterproofing is unaffected for this set.

Same strengths, third-party. NEEWER, K&F Concept and TELESIN sell ND8, ND16 and ND32 plus a polariser in a four-piece kit. NEEWER says its kit mounts directly onto the original Glass Lens Cover, and K&F calls its mount push-in. TELESIN describes a secure fit to the lens-cover mount without a DJI-published tolerance behind it.

Darker or magnetic. Freewell sells four hybrid ND/PL filters from ND8 to ND64 and describes a magnetic attachment. SmallRig adds a silicone lens cover to its five-piece snap-on kit.

All five mount over the stock cover on the seller's account, which is the same interface DJI's own set uses.

Do Action 5 Pro or Action 6 filters fit?

The DJI set does cover the Action 5 Pro: its store page names the Action 5 Pro, 4 and 3, and DJI's list ticks it for the Action 5 Pro and Action 4. The Action 6 is the exception. DJI's current list ticks the Osmo Action 6 ND Filter Set for the Action 6 only, and the older Osmo Action ND Filters Set is crossed for the Action 6. A retailer knowledge base lists the older ND set among the parts the Action 4 takes from the Action 3 generation.

Third-party kits vary. NEEWER, TELESIN and Freewell name the Action 5 Pro, 4 and 3 together in the title, K&F names the Action 4 and 5 Pro, and SmallRig names the 5 Pro and 4. That is the sellers' wording, not a DJI statement.

What to check before you buy

Name the camera. Buy a kit whose title or bullets say Osmo Action 4. A kit built for the Action 6 is not the same part.
Snap-on or screw-in. A kit that screws on takes the place of the Glass Lens Cover. A kit that presses on leaves it in place, as DJI's own set does.
Start strength. ND8 is the lightest strength in these kits. Freewell adds ND64.
Polariser or not. DJI's set has none. NEEWER, K&F, TELESIN and SmallRig include a polariser, and Freewell builds it into each filter.
Water. DJI's manual says the camera is not waterproof unless the lens protective cover is firmly mounted and fastened. Only DJI states waterproofing with its own filters.
Batteries for the day. A filter day is a long day: see the Osmo Action 4 batteries guide.

What we could not verify

DJI publishes fit and waterproofing for its own ND set and for nothing else, so the fit of every other kit is its seller's statement. We found no independent test of vignetting, colour cast or sealing on any of the five. TechRadar used DJI's set but does not comment on third-party kits. The five Amazon listings were read on 2026-09-10, so check stock and the title on the listing itself. If you have mounted any of these on an Action 4, tell us and we will add your report as the source.

Questions owners ask

What ND filters fit the Osmo Action 4?

DJI's own Osmo Action ND Filter Set, with ND8, ND16 and ND32, is ticked for the Action 4 on DJI's lists. Third-party kits name the Action 4 on the listing, which is the seller's claim.

Do Osmo Action 6 ND filters fit the Osmo Action 4?

No, according to DJI. Its list crosses out the Osmo Action 6 ND Filter Set for the Action 4 and ticks it for the Action 6 only.

Do I have to remove the lens cover to fit ND filters?

Not with DJI's set: its store page says the filters press on without detaching the Glass Lens Cover. Screw-in kits from other brands take the cover's place, so check how each mounts.

Is the Osmo Action 4 still waterproof with ND filters on?

DJI states it for its own set, which does not affect waterproof performance. The manual says the camera is not waterproof unless the lens protective cover is firmly mounted and fastened.
