What to check before you buy

Sort out two things before you compare sets, because they decide most of it.

  • Whether you already own a set. The Fly More Combo includes filters. If you bought a combo, treat a purchase here as a top-up for a strength you are missing, not a first set.
  • Fixed stops or variable. Fixed ND discs are optically cleaner and you swap them to change strength. A variable ND lets you dial density without swapping, at the cost of some softness at its strongest end. Both are here.
  • How bright you shoot. A set that tops out mid-range is enough for most light. Reach for a set that runs to the very strong stops only if you fly over snow, water or bright sand.
  • Whether you want a polariser or a diffusion filter too. Some sets fold in a CPL for glare or a black diffusion filter for softer highlights, which changes the look rather than the exposure.

Filters are the one accessory that does not touch the weight line

Everything else in this cluster is shadowed by the 250 g registration threshold, because the Mini 5 Pro is sold as an aircraft that sits just under it and the propeller guard and the Battery Plus both push it over. Filters are the exception. A snap-on ND set adds a few grams at most and does not change the drones weight class, so you can fly with filters fitted and stay on the same side of the line you started on. It is the one category here where the registration question simply does not arise.
