DJI Osmo Action 4 Accessories: What Fits, What Does Not

The question behind most searches for Osmo Action 4 accessories is a carry-over question. The camera has been out long enough that two newer Osmo Action cameras exist, and owners want to know which parts work across all three. DJI answers it on its own accessory compatibility lists, and the answer is mostly kind to the Action 4. The Action 4 and the Action 5 Pro share the same body size, and DJI ticks the 60 m waterproof case, the ND filter set and the Extreme Battery Plus for both. The Action 6 is where the lists turn: DJI crosses out the 60 m case and the older ND set for it, and gives it a case and ND set of its own.

These guides are built from those lists, the Action 4 manual and spec page, DJI USA product pages, owner write-ups and Amazon listings read by hand, each dated on its page. Where DJI publishes nothing, such as the capacity of a third-party battery or the fit of a third-party filter, the guide says the figure is the seller's claim. Parts that do not fit stay in the guides with the reason attached, because on a camera whose newer siblings changed shape, knowing what to avoid saves more money than another recommendation. Nothing here comes from testing the parts ourselves.

Action 4, Action 5 Pro and Action 6: what carries over

Read from DJI's Osmo series accessory compatibility list, with the Action 4 column first.

| Part | Action 4 | Action 5 Pro | Action 6 | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Osmo Action 60m Waterproof Case | Yes | Yes | No | | Osmo Action Diving Accessory Kit | Yes | Yes | No | | Horizontal-Vertical Protective Frame | Yes | Yes | No | | Osmo Action ND Filters Set | Yes | Yes | No | | Osmo Action 6 ND Filter Set | No | No | Yes | | Osmo Action 4 Glass Lens Cover | Yes | No | No | | Extreme Battery Plus (1950 mAh) | Yes | Yes | Yes | | Multifunctional Battery Case 3 | Yes | Yes | Yes | | Multifunctional Charging Handle | Yes | Yes | No |

The guides carry the detail and the sources: batteries and ND filters. The case rows above are DJI's own list; we have not built a cases guide, because we could not verify enough Action 4 case listings to compare them honestly.

The two guides

  • [Batteries](/dji-osmo-action-4-accessories/batteries/) start from the 1770 mAh pack the camera ships with and the 1950 mAh Extreme Battery Plus that DJI ticks for it. DJI's manual tells you not to use non-DJI batteries, and the guide quotes it next to the third-party kits.
  • [ND filters](/dji-osmo-action-4-accessories/nd-filters/) turn on DJI's own press-on set, which the Action 6 does not take, and five third-party kits whose fit is the seller's word.

On the newer cameras, see the Osmo Action 6 accessories hub.

How we read fitment on this camera

DJI's own documents rank first: the spec page, the manual, the accessory lists and the product pages. An owner or reviewer write-up comes next, and a seller's listing copy last, labelled as the seller's claim. We link a DJI part only where DJI sells it through ordinary channels; DJI's own parts here are sold by DJI directly, so those links go to DJI and carry no commission. Prices are not shown, because they change faster than a guide can be rechecked.

Questions owners ask

Do Osmo Action 5 Pro accessories fit the Osmo Action 4?

Mostly yes. DJI's compatibility list ticks the 60 m waterproof case, the ND filter set and the Extreme Battery Plus for both cameras. The Action 4 has its own Glass Lens Cover, ticked for no other camera.

Do Osmo Action 6 accessories fit the Osmo Action 4?

Some. The Extreme Battery Plus and Battery Case 3 are ticked for both. DJI's list crosses out the Action 6 ND Filter Set for the Action 4, and the 60 m waterproof case does not fit the Action 6.

How deep is the Osmo Action 4 waterproof?

To 18 m on its own and to 60 m with the Osmo Action 60m Waterproof Case, per DJI's spec page. Without a case the Shutter/Record button disables itself below 14 m.

Can I use third-party batteries in the Osmo Action 4?

DJI's manual says not to use non-DJI batteries and that DJI takes no responsibility for damage they cause. The batteries guide lists the third-party kits and says which capacity figures are the sellers'.

We start from the spec sheet

Every guide begins with the manufacturer's own numbers for the DJI Osmo Action 4— rack ratings, tube sizes, clearances — each linked to where it was published.

We read what owners hit

Forum and community reports fill the gaps the spec sheet leaves, and they are labelled as owner reports, never as tested fact.

We say when it doesn't fit

Amazon pays us on clicks, so the honest "skip it" rows are the point. They stay in the tables.
