How we verify fitment

Every guide on KitMyGear follows the same process. It is built to answer the fitment question precisely, not to pad a list.

1. The host product comes first

Before looking at a single accessory, we compile the host product's accessory-relevant specifications from its manufacturer's spec sheets and manuals: rack dimensions and load ratings, tube and seatpost diameters, mounting patterns, axle standards, electrical specs. Each value on the site links to its source and shows when we last verified it.

2. Fitment evidence, ranked by strength

Compatibility claims are sourced in a strict hierarchy:

Verified: confirmed by matching official specifications on both sides, or by multiple independent owner reports that agree.
Manufacturer claim: the accessory maker states compatibility, but we could not independently confirm it.
Owner reported: real-world reports from owner communities and forums, linked so you can read the thread yourself.
Inferred: dimensions line up on paper. We label this honestly and never present it as confirmed.

Every verdict - fits, fits with an adapter, does not fit - shows its confidence level and its sources. Products we could not verify stay marked unverified rather than being quietly dropped or quietly recommended.

3. What the rankings mean

Picks are ordered by fit certainty first, then by how well the accessory suits the host product's real constraints (capacity, geometry, install effort). Commission rates play no part; most items in a category pay the same rate anyway.

4. Prices and images

We never copy prices into page text: prices change too fast to be trustworthy as static content. When live pricing appears on this site it comes from Amazon's Product Advertising API with a visible "as of" timestamp; otherwise we simply link out and you see the current price there. Product images are used with manufacturer permission (press kits) or supplied by that same API.

5. Corrections

If an owner report contradicts a claim we published, we re-check the sources and update the page; every page shows its last-updated date. Spotted something wrong? Tell us via the address on the About page.
