Tripods That Fit the DJI Osmo Pocket 3

This page starts by talking you out of something, because the honest answer to the most common tripod question about this camera is that you already have what you need. The Osmo Pocket 3 body has no tripod thread. DJI has never claimed one. The thread lives on the Handle With 1/4-20 Thread, which DJI ships in the standard box as well as in the Creator Combo, and the manual says so plainly: both the handle and the battery handle have the screw hole at the bottom, and it is what the Osmo Mini Tripod installs onto.

So nobody needs an adapter. Fit the handle, and any tripod with a standard threaded stud will mate with it. And if you bought the Creator Combo, stop here unless you want something specific, because that box also contains the Osmo Mini Tripod and you own a tripod already. What is left is the genuinely useful part of this category: the stands that add something the free parts do not have, whether that is height, a published load figure, or a port you can charge and transfer through while the camera sits on a desk.

DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Handle With 1/4 inch Thread

The mount point for every tripod on this page, included in both boxes and not sold separately, which is why the first thing this guide does is tell you not to buy an adapter.

Install note

The manual states it plainly: "Both the handle and battery handle have a 1/4 inch screw hole at the bottom, which can be used to install the Osmo Mini Tripod." The camera body has no thread anywhere, so the handle is not optional for tripod use, it is the interface. DJI also lists what the handle does in the FAQ: it provides the tripod thread, it moves the USB-C port to the rear so you can record while charging, and it lengthens the grip. No ASIN, because DJI does not sell it as a standalone product and owners have been asking about that on DJI's own forum. Third-party replacements exist on Amazon; none of them is a DJI part, and the weights they print are not DJI figures, so we are not repeating them.

SMALLRIG
Best overall02

SMALLRIG 6794 Auto-Deploy Mini Stand Tripod

The only stand here that publishes two load figures and says which is which, so you can compare it against the mass DJI publishes for the camera instead of trusting a slogan.

Opened and read back on 2026-07-26: "SMALLRIG Auto-Deploy Mini Stand Tripod for DJI Osmo Pocket 4P/4/3 ... Magnetic Mount with 1/4"-20 Screw for Action Camera ... 6794", SMALLRIG store byline, stock thin at check time. The seller understands the interface correctly and says so: it "works with Pocket 4P / 4 / 3's 1/4 inch threaded handle". Seller-stated figures: 36.7 g, a folded length of 3.1 cm, support for devices up to 1 kg in static desktop use, and a lower max load of 300 g when hanging off its magnetic legs. Set those against the only mass DJI publishes, 179 g for the camera body, or 243.6 g if you add DJI's 64.6 g battery handle. DJI itself states no limit for any mount, so the comparison is the reader's to make.

Best grip and stand03

SMALLRIG 6049 One-Touch Deploy Mini Tripod

Seller-stated figures: a standard 1/4-20 screw on top, 500 g load capacity in static desktop use, 50 g of its own, and 10 cm folded. It mounts through the handle like everything else on this page, because the camera body has no thread.

DJI's own folding stand, guaranteed to mate with the handle, and already in the Creator Combo box.

Opened and read back on 2026-07-26: "DJI Osmo Mini Tripod, Compatibility: Osmo Pocket 3, Black", with DJI-authored bullets giving a 1/4-20 screw, 31.1 x 31.1 x 76.7 mm and 44.8 g, and buying options available. Two things DJI does not publish and we will not guess at: whether that dimension set is legs closed or legs deployed, and any load rating. You already own this if you bought the Creator Combo, which adds exactly seven items over the standard box and the Osmo Mini Tripod is one of them.

Seller-stated: adjustable from 11.4 in to 59 in, which the same bullet also gives as 29 cm to 150 cm, weight 10.8 oz, folded length 11.4 in. It mates to the handle by the standard 1/4-20 screw. No load figure is published for it, and DJI publishes none either. Owners on r/osmopocket looking for a second attachment point, for a phone used as a monitor, find there is nowhere to put it: the system has exactly one 1/4-20 and it is on the handle.

Seller-stated: a full-function Type-C port supporting charging while in use, data transfer and webcam mode, plus a 1/4 inch thread and an Arri locating hole. Worth knowing for context: DJI's own handle already relocates the USB-C port to the rear for recording while charging, so what this base adds over the free part is the data and webcam function, not the ability to charge on a stand.

Seller-stated: a 5.3 to 17.6 oz load range, a 22 to 32 mm clamp range, and an "innovative hydraulic damping system". DJI's Safety Guidelines say, verbatim, "DO NOT use the OSMO POCKET 3 in the environments with high-amplitude vibrations (such as installing on the handbar of motorcycle or bike). Otherwise, the camera system and the gimbal can be damaged." That warning is about damage to the hardware, not about shaky footage, and no seller publishes a damping figure against a DJI tolerance, because DJI has never published one. This is a mechanical fit and a documented misuse.

What to check before you buy

Assume the fit works and buy on what it adds instead.

  • The handle must be fitted. Everything here mates to the thread on the handle. There is no way to tripod-mount the bare body with DJI parts, so if you have lost the handle, that is the problem to solve first.
  • Does it publish a load figure? DJI states no weight limit for any Osmo Pocket 3 mount, so the only comparison available is a product's own rating against the camera's published mass of 179 g, or 243.6 g once you add the battery handle. Products claiming tens of kilograms on a stand weighing under 200 g are not publishing a figure, they are publishing a number.
  • Height, or pocketability. A mini tripod raises the camera off a table. An extending stick lets you shoot yourself full length or get above head height. They are different purchases and both are legitimate.
  • Ignore anything sold for a handlebar. DJI prohibits mounting this camera in high-amplitude vibration, in writing, in its safety guidelines, and names bike and motorcycle handlebars as the example.

The one mount point, and what it rules out

The Osmo Pocket 3 system has exactly one 1/4-20 thread and it is on the handle. That single fact explains a whole cluster of owner frustration. Riders wanting to run a phone as a monitor on the same rig discover there is nowhere to put it, because once the tripod is on the thread, the thread is used. The workarounds owners land on are rod or pole clamps that grip the stick rather than the camera.

It also explains why the expansion accessories are a separate question. DJI sells an expansion adapter that clamps the body and adds a cold shoe and an action-camera port. DJI describes it as making the camera compatible with most Osmo Action accessories, and does not describe it as adding a thread. Reseller copy claiming it connects directly to anything with a 1/4 screw is not something DJI says, and we are not repeating it. DJI does note that the adapter can be installed in a position that blocks the screen from rotating, which is a real caveat with an official source behind it.

What we could not verify

DJI publishes no load or weight limit for the Osmo Mini Tripod, for the expansion adapter, or for any other mount, so nothing on this page can tell you on DJI's authority that a stand will hold the camera. What we have done instead is state the mass DJI does publish and report each product's own rating where it has one, which is more useful than a number DJI never wrote down. DJI also publishes no size or weight for the threaded handle itself, and does not sell it separately, so we cannot tell you how tall the camera stands with it fitted. Figures for the handle circulate on reseller listings and they disagree with each other, which is exactly why we are not publishing one.

Questions owners ask

Does the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 have a tripod thread?

Not on the body. The thread is on the Handle With 1/4-20 Thread, which ships in the standard box and in the Creator Combo, and on the battery handle. Fit a handle and any standard tripod stud will mate with it.

Can I mount it on a tripod without the battery handle?

Yes. The threaded handle that comes with every camera carries the same screw hole as the battery handle. This is probably the most widely misunderstood thing about the camera.

How much weight can the DJI Mini Tripod hold?

DJI does not publish a load rating for it, or for any other Osmo Pocket 3 mount. What DJI does publish is the camera mass, 179 g on its own and 243.6 g once you add the battery handle, which is the figure to check a product rating against.

Can I mount the Osmo Pocket 3 on a bike handlebar?

DJI says not to. Its safety guidelines instruct owners not to use the camera in environments with high-amplitude vibrations, naming a motorcycle or bike handlebar, and warn that the camera system and the gimbal can be damaged. Clamps for that use are sold widely and we have left one here with the reason attached.

Is there anywhere to attach a phone as a monitor?

Not on the camera. The system has exactly one thread and the tripod uses it. Owners looking for a second attachment point end up clamping onto the stick or pole rather than the camera.
