A form-fit shell has no margin to absorb that, so the generation in the title matters here as much as it does on cases and screen protectors.

What to check before you buy

Pick the shape first, then read the generation out of the title.

Skin, shell or grips. A silicone skin is minimal protection you barely notice. A TPU shell with a kickstand is firmer and props the machine up. Comfort grips are not protection at all; they change how the machine feels in your hands.
Find "Gen 2", "Go 2" or "2025" in the name. As with cases, "8.8 inch" is shared with the 2023 machine and settles nothing.
Remember what a shell or grip does to packing. Both add bulk the PSREF dimensions do not include, so a bag or dock sized to the bare machine may not close over them.
Do not stack a shell inside a form-fit case. Nobody publishes that the pair fits, and the shell adds the thickness the case was cut without.
Discount the rating count. Several sellers pool 2023 and Gen 2 feedback into one number.

Will a 2023 Legion Go grip or skin fit the Legion Go 2?

Nobody has published a direct answer, and the evidence is the same dimension gap the cases guide works from.

What Lenovo states. The 2023 Legion Go is 298.83 x 131 x 40.7 mm with controllers; the Legion Go 2 is 295.6 x 136.7 x 42.25 mm. The newer machine is narrower, deeper and thicker, and neither spec sheet mentions the other.

What that supports. A skin or shell moulded to the 2023 outline is wrong in three dimensions at once, and a form-fit silicone or TPU part is exactly the kind that has no slack to give. Comfort grips that clip to the back are more forgiving, but the button and stick positions still have to line up.

What it does not support. A flat claim that a given 2023 part will not go on. We have not tried one, and sellers do not publish the internal tolerances. The reliable move is the same as everywhere else in this cluster: buy the one with your generation in the title.

What we could not verify

We have not fitted any skin, shell or grip to a Legion Go 2. Every fit here is the seller stating it against the Gen 2, read off the listing on the date shown and attributed to them, checked against the one thing Lenovo does publish, which is the chassis dimensions.
