ROG Xbox Ally X Docks: VRR, HDR and Which Pass Them

Two docks carry the TV features ASUS and Xbox document for the ROG Xbox Ally X: ASUS's own ROG Bulwark Dock DG300, which passes ALLM, VRR and HDR10 to a supported TV, and the ROG 100W Gaming Charger Dock, which passes ALLM and HDR10 but is not named for VRR. No third-party dock is on either list. Of the four Amazon docks checked, JSAUX's HB0705 is the one whose listing claims VRR, ALLM and HDR, and JSAUX's HB0609 says in its own listing that it supports neither VRR nor ALLM.

Six docks were checked for this guide: the two ASUS docks as references, since we found no Amazon listing for either, and four Amazon docks opened by hand. Every claim for those four is the seller's or a reviewer's, read on the date shown.

ASUS's April 2026 docking post names "our own ROG Bulwark Dock" for ALLM on supported TVs and says it "also enables Variable Refresh Rate"; Xbox Wire adds HDR10 and VRR for it. A Windows Central roundup updated 2025-11-24 called the official dock "not currently available"; we did not check ASUS's store stock.

Which docks pass VRR, ALLM and HDR10 to the TV?

ASUS's April 2026 docking post says that with its own ROG Bulwark Dock or ROG 100W Gaming Charger Dock, supported smart TVs get Auto Low Latency Mode, and that the Bulwark "also enables Variable Refresh Rate". Xbox Wire adds that the two support HDR10, with the Bulwark unlocking VRR, and says support will extend to more Designed for Xbox docks over time.

ASUS Bulwark DG300. HDMI 2.1, up to 4K at 144 Hz or 8K at 30 Hz, with VRR. ALLM and HDR10 as above.

ASUS 100W Charger Dock. HDMI 2.0, up to 4K at 60 Hz or 1080p at 120 Hz. ALLM and HDR10 named, VRR not.

JSAUX HB0705. Its listing gives HDMI 2.1 at 4K 120 Hz or 1080p 240 Hz with VRR, ALLM, HDR and QFT. That is JSAUX stating it; neither ASUS nor Xbox lists the dock.

JSAUX HB0609. HDMI 2.1 at 4K 120 Hz or 1080p 240 Hz, and its listing says it "does not support VRR or ALLM".

iVANKY 14-in-1 and 8-in-1. HDMI 2.1 at 4K 120 Hz and 4K 144 Hz respectively, per the listings. Neither listing mentions VRR, ALLM or HDR, so none is claimed here.

Which USB-C port do you dock from?

The Ally X has two USB-C ports. ASUS lists one as USB4 (Thunderbolt 4 compliance, DisplayPort 1.4 with FreeSync, Power Delivery 3.0) and the other as USB 3.2 Gen 2 with DisplayPort and power delivery. ASUS does not say which to dock from, and we found no dock maker that does. The standard ROG Xbox Ally has two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports and no USB4, so a dock listed for "Ally X" is not automatically a statement about it.

Will a 2024 Ally X dock stand fit?

ASUS lists the 2025 Ally X at 29.0 x 12.1 x 2.75 to 5.09 cm and 715 g. The 2024 Ally X is 28.0 x 11.1 x 2.47 to 3.69 cm and 678 g. A stand sized for the older machine is not documented to hold this one. JSAUX's product page for the HB0609 is titled for the ROG Xbox Ally X and Ally. Windows Central's review of that dock was done on the 2024 Ally X and found its cable reaches the port without strain, which says nothing about the 2025 body. The one reviewer report we found for the Xbox Ally range is a Windows Central roundup, updated 2025-11-24, where the writer used the iVANKY 8-in-1 with ASUS's charger, said it "fits decently well" and reported "no issues whatsoever".

How many watts does a dock need?

ASUS ships the Ally X with a 65 W Type-C adapter, 20 V at 3.25 A, though inclusion varies by region. Every dock here takes a charger and passes power on, and the listings state PD up to 100 W. JSAUX warns on the HB0609 listing that part of the input power is used by the dock itself, so a 65 W or lower charger can bring up "Not enough power to charge efficiently", which it says does not affect gameplay but can slow charging, and recommends a 100 W charger. ASUS's Bulwark takes up to 140 W of input and passes up to 100 W to the device.

What to check before you buy

  • TV features. If your TV does VRR or ALLM, only the Bulwark is documented by ASUS and Xbox. The HB0705 claims it on JSAUX's word. The HB0609 says it does not.
  • Refresh ceiling. HDMI 2.0 on the ASUS charger dock stops at 4K 60 Hz or 1080p 120 Hz. The other docks state HDMI 2.1.
  • Name the machine. A title that says Ally X may mean the 2024 model. JSAUX's HB0609 and HB0705 and iVANKY's 14-in-1 name the Xbox Ally X in their listings; iVANKY's 8-in-1 title names the 2024 machine.
  • Firmware. The iVANKY listings advise updating the dock firmware to avoid HDMI mirroring problems.
  • Controller handoff. ASUS says the first external controller you pair while docked becomes Player 1 and turns off the handheld's own controls, and recommends pairing before you dock.
  • Cases. A dock stand and a case are separate fits; the Ally X cases guide covers the second.

What we could not verify

We found no Amazon listing for either ASUS dock and did not check ASUS's store stock; a Windows Central roundup from November 2025 called the official dock unavailable. We found no independent test of any dock on the 2025 Ally X, no owner report for the HB0705 or the iVANKY 14-in-1, and nothing confirming a third-party dock passes VRR or ALLM to a TV. Whether one USB-C port docks better than the other is unpublished. If you have docked one of these, tell us and we will add your report as the source.

Questions owners ask

Which dock works with the ROG Xbox Ally X?

ASUS and Xbox document two: the ROG Bulwark Dock DG300 and the ROG 100W Gaming Charger Dock. JSAUX and iVANKY sell docks that name the Ally X in their listings; those claims are the sellers' own.

Does a third-party dock support VRR on the Xbox Ally X?

Not confirmed. ASUS names only its Bulwark dock for VRR, and Xbox says support will extend to more docks later. JSAUX's listing claims VRR on the HB0705 and says the HB0609 lacks it.

Which USB-C port does the Xbox Ally X dock through?

Either has DisplayPort and power delivery on ASUS's spec page: the USB4 port or the USB 3.2 Gen 2 port. ASUS gives no preference, and we found no dock maker that does.

Does the Xbox Ally X come with a charger for a dock?

ASUS lists a 65 W Type-C adapter, and says whether one is included varies by country, region and model. JSAUX recommends 100 W for its HB0609 dock.

Do ROG Ally X docks fit the new Xbox Ally X?

Only where the listing says so. ASUS lists the 2025 Ally X larger than the 2024 model, and no source we found tests a 2024 Ally X dock stand on the 2025 body.
