A case for the ROG Xbox Ally X has to be cut for the 2025 body, and the name on the box is not enough to tell you that. ASUS lists this machine at 29.0 x 12.1 x 2.75 to 5.09 cm and 715 g, and the 2024 ROG Ally X at 28.0 x 11.1 x 2.47 to 3.69 cm and 678 g. A moulded interior for the older handheld is a centimetre short on two axes, and one 2024 case in the Xbox Ally X search results says in its own listing that it does not fit this machine. It is on this page as the warning.

Of the seven cases that do name the Xbox Ally X, the split is what rides along. ASUS's own 2-in-1 Premium Case has a detachable pouch for the 65 W adapter and an SD card holder that folds into a stand. JSAUX's double-decker case gives the charger, the stand and the cables a whole lower layer, and its slim case takes the bare console and, by JSAUX's own note, nothing else. The tomtoc slim case sits in the same class. Will a 2024 ROG Ally X case fit the Xbox Ally X?

Not if it is moulded. ASUS publishes both bodies: the 2025 Xbox Ally X is 29.0 x 12.1 cm across and up to 5.09 cm thick at its grips, the 2024 ROG Ally X is 28.0 x 11.1 cm and up to 3.69 cm. That is a centimetre more in width and depth and over a centimetre more at the thickest point, which is the part a moulded interior wraps. The ButterFox large carry case, sold for the 2024 Ally X and the 2023 Ally, puts it plainly in its own bullets: "this case does not fit Rog Xbox Ally X".

The same logic runs the other way. JSAUX's slim case and the SyVend kit both exclude the 2026 ROG Xbox Ally X20, a separate ASUS model, while JSAUX's double-decker case names it. A case that says "Ally X" and nothing more could mean the 2024 machine; buy the one whose title says Xbox Ally X or 2025.

The standard ROG Xbox Ally shares the 29.0 x 12.1 x 2.75 to 5.09 cm body with the X, per ASUS's spec pages, which is why every maker here names both at once.

Which cases carry the charger?

Four of the eight state it. ASUS's 2-in-1 Premium Case has a detachable accessory pouch that ASUS's own guide says carries the 65 W charging adapter; the case measures 32 x 15.5 x 10 cm and weighs 485 g. JSAUX's double-decker case lists the original charger, the original stand, an HDMI cable, a USB-C cable and earphones for its lower layer. The SyVend kit's case lists compartments for "the ROG Xbox Ally X charger, docking station, and other accessories". The CoBak case has a zippered mesh layer it describes for earphones, a charging cable and a card reader, not an adapter.

Three do not. JSAUX's slim case says it has no space for adapters or stands. The tomtoc slim case lists a pocket for SD cards and a cleaning cloth. The NACON case lists nothing.

One more thing to know about that adapter: ASUS lists a 65 W Type-C unit at 20 V and 3.25 A, and says whether one is included varies by country, region and model.

Hard shell, slim felt or kit

Hard shell. ASUS's case is a hard plastic shell with a water repellent exterior and a fleece liner. JSAUX's double-decker case is felt over a reinforced laminated layer with raised zones over the joysticks; a Windows Central roundup updated 2025-11-24 named it the hard shell pick for the Xbox Ally range. CoBak's is EVA with a grooved interior its maker says was moulded on the Xbox Ally X itself.

Slim felt. JSAUX's BG0135 and the tomtoc slim case are both felt with a hard layer underneath, both moulded with a sunken area for the joysticks, and both for the bare console. JSAUX puts its case at around 30% lighter than a typical EVA case; tomtoc puts its case at 30% thinner. Both are the makers' figures.

Kits. CoBak and SyVend each bundle two tempered glass screen protectors; CoBak adds four thumb grip caps, SyVend adds a TPU cover with a stand. The cover and the case are two fits, and the grips and skins guide covers shells worn on the machine.

What to check before you buy

  • Name the machine. Buy a case whose title says ROG Xbox Ally X or 2025. "ROG Ally X" alone is the 2024 handheld, and ASUS lists it a centimetre smaller on two axes.
  • Decide what rides along. ASUS's case and the JSAUX double-decker carry the 65 W adapter. The two slim cases do not, and JSAUX says so.
  • Shell or bare. A slim case is cut for the bare console. If the machine wears a grip shell, JSAUX's slim case will not take it; the double-decker and the kits do not say either way.
  • X20 or not. The 2026 X20 is excluded by two listings here and included by one. Check the line, not the brand.
  • Cards. Every case here but NACON's lists SD or microSD slots; CoBak states 22, ASUS folds its holder into a stand.
  • Docks are a separate fit. A dock stand is sized to the body too; the docks guide covers which stands are cut for this one.

What we could not verify

We found no Amazon listing for the ASUS case and did not check ASUS's store stock. No listing here publishes its interior dimensions, so no case is matched to the body by numbers; each fit is the seller naming the machine. The NACON listing carried no readable description beyond its title. The one reviewer report, Windows Central's, covers the JSAUX case and no other. Whether any case closes over a grip shell is stated only by JSAUX, for its slim case, in the negative.
