Getting the straw lid right

Two questions settle it: bottle or tumbler, and do you actually need a lid at all?

Bottle: buy the one cap. The Bottle Straw Cap fits every Rambler bottle on the shared thread and ships with two straws. YETI sells it, and so do several third parties.
Tumbler or cup: buy the size. A tumbler Straw Lid is sized like a MagSlider. Medium covers the 20 oz Tumbler and the 16 to 25 oz cups and mugs; check your vessel against the list, not the sticker.
Not a Travel Mug. The tumbler Straw Lid is stated not to fit the 20 oz or 30 oz Stronghold Travel Mug. That is the same trap as the plain lids.
Not hot. YETI says do not use the tumbler Straw Lid with hot drinks. If your habit is coffee, that is a MagSlider or a Stronghold.
Maybe you only need a straw. If the lid is fine and the straw is what went missing or got chewed, a silicone straw drops through the MagSlider hole and costs a fraction of a lid.
The reviews are pooled. The largest count here belongs to a variation family, not to your one size.

The two facts that catch people are on the tumbler side. The first is the Stronghold exclusion: a Travel Mug looks like a tumbler and is not, and its Straw Lid is a different part. The second is the heat warning: the tumbler Straw Lid is a cold-drink part by YETI's own instruction.

On the bottle side there is really only one thing to know, and it is the good kind of boring: the cap fits every bottle, so you cannot buy the wrong size. Third-party bottle straw kits copy this exactly, and the better ones ship trimmable spare straws, which matters because the straw is usually the part that failed.

If the straw lid is not the answer

If the lid seals but the straw keeps slipping or splitting, buy the straw and keep the lid. If the lid itself is what cracked, and it is a plain drinking lid rather than a straw one, that is the lid replacement guide, including the MagSlider sizes and the 2020 Stronghold recall.
