Retroid Pocket 5 Screen Protectors

Two choices, both easy once you know them.

• Buy the one that names the Pocket 5. Not the Pocket 4, not the Pocket 3 Plus. The panels and bodies differ across the generations.
• Glass or film. Tempered glass is thicker and adds impact protection; TPU film is thinner, self-heals light marks and costs less, but does not shield against a hard knock the way glass does.
• Take the multipack. First applications go wrong. A three-pack is the realistic count for a clean install plus a spare.
• Look for an alignment frame. A glossy AMOLED shows a crooked film immediately, and a guiding frame makes a clean application much easier.

The retro-handheld aisle lists protectors for several Retroid generations in the same search, described in nearly identical words, and the size that matters is the panel and its surround. The Pocket 5 uses a 5.5 inch AMOLED in a body that differs from the Pocket 4 and the Pocket 3 Plus, so a film cut for those sits wrong: short of the edges, or fouling the bezel and the surrounding controls.

Retroid does not publish a cover-glass cut-out dimension, so nobody can settle the exact overlap from documents. What settles it in practice is the model name in the title. Buy the one that says Pocket 5, and treat a listing that only says "Retroid" or names an older Pocket as the wrong part until it proves otherwise.
