Blackstone Griddle Wind Guards: What Fits Yours

A Blackstone wind guard fits by two things: the size of the griddle and whether it has a hood. On size, Blackstone keeps it simple: the 5015 is the 36-inch guard, the 5016 the 28-inch, and there is a 17-inch to 22-inch adjustable set for the tabletop units. The guards hook over the edge of the griddle top, no tools.

The hood is where people get caught. Blackstone's help center is blunt: the hook-over guards are "not compatible with our hooded units or tailgater units," and the Omnivore griddle plates already carry wind guards on the underside, so they need no separate one. On a griddle with a hood, an add-on guard fouls the lid. That is why third-party titles enumerate a dozen model numbers: they are telling you which bases share a firebox footprint and which are off the list. Buy on the size and the hood, and check your model against the ones sellers call out as not compatible.

Buying a guard that fits and does not foul the lid

Two questions, in order.

  • What size is the griddle? A 36-inch takes the 5015 fit, a 28-inch the 5016. The tabletop 17-inch to 22-inch units take the adjustable set. A guard cut for one size does not span another.
  • Does it have a hood? If yes, the plain hook-over guards are out; Blackstone lists them as not compatible with hooded and tailgater units. Look instead at a magnetic set that states hood compatibility.
  • Is it an Omnivore? Then you already have guards on the underside of the plate and do not need an add-on; owners report add-on guards stop the lid closing.
  • Read the not-compatible line. Sellers list the bases they fit and the ones they do not, such as the Culinary Series (Model 1902). If your model is on the exclusion line, keep looking.
  • Magnetic or hook-over. Hook-over is the Blackstone original; magnetic stainless sets stay put and reposition, and are the ones that tend to state hood compatibility.
  • The reviews are pooled across sizes and finishes, so treat the star count as a family verdict.

The size map, and the units guards do not fit

From Blackstone's help center and product pages, read 2026-08-03:

| Griddle | Guard | | --- | --- | | 36-inch cooking station | 5015, or a magnetic 36-inch set | | 28-inch cooking station | 5016, or a magnetic 28-inch set | | 17-inch to 22-inch tabletop | adjustable set | | Hooded or tailgater unit | none (not compatible) | | Omnivore | built into the plate |

Blackstone's help center states it directly: "We offer 36 inch and 28 inch wind guards that you hook over the edge of your griddle top. For tabletop units, we have 17 inch to 22 inch adjustable wind guards. Note: Wind guards are not compatible with our hooded units or tailgater units. Our omnivore griddle plates have wind guards on the underside of the griddle plate, and do not require an additional guard."

Owners fill in the edge cases. On the Omnivore (Model 2162), one buyer reported the add-on guards "did not fit" and "the lid does not close all the way now." On the 22-inch On The Go (Model 1935), another found "the back screens are far too long and get knocked off when you open the lid." Both are the hood-and-lid problem the help center is warning about.

If grease is the other problem

If what you actually need is to stop grease overflowing the cup, that is the grease cup liners guide, where the fit rule is the grease system rather than the size.

And for the whole map across both accessories, that is the Blackstone accessories hub.

Questions owners ask

Which Blackstone wind guard fits my griddle?

It is set by size. A 36-inch griddle takes the 5015 (or a magnetic 36-inch set), a 28-inch takes the 5016, and the tabletop units take a 17-inch to 22-inch adjustable set. Match the guard to your griddle size, then check the hood question below.

Do wind guards work on a griddle with a hood?

Not the hook-over ones. Blackstone says its wind guards are not compatible with hooded or tailgater units, and owners report add-on guards stop the lid closing. If your griddle has a hood, look for a magnetic set that states hood compatibility, or skip the add-on.

Does the Omnivore need a wind guard?

No. Blackstone says the Omnivore griddle plates carry wind guards on the underside of the plate and do not require an additional guard. An Omnivore owner who added third-party guards found they did not fit and stopped the lid closing.

Do you test these wind guards yourselves?

No. We compile what Blackstone and its help center publish and what owners report, and we link both. Every listing here was opened by hand on 2026-08-03 with its title, availability, rating count and feature bullets read back. Nothing has been fitted to a griddle by us.
