For the DJI Mic Mini

DJI Mic Mini Windscreens and Wind Muffs

A furry windscreen is the first thing most DJI Mic Mini owners buy once they record outdoors, because the bare transmitter picks up wind as a low roar that no amount of editing fully removes. A deadcat cover slips over the mic capsule and breaks up the airflow before it reaches the element, which is the one accessory that changes what the mic can do rather than just how it is carried.

The fit is a generation question, and the sellers know it: nearly every listing here says in its own title that it is for the Mic Mini and not the DJI Mic or the Mic 2. Those are different capsules, and a cover cut for one does not seat on the other. DJI publishes the Mic Mini; it publishes nothing about a third-party windscreen, so every fit below is the seller stating it against the Mic Mini, read off the listing on the date shown and quoted so you can check it. The mic itself reaches the US mainly through gray sellers and is not linked here; these covers are ordinary third-party retail.

What to check before you buy

This is a short list, because a windscreen is a simple part.

  • Name, not looks. Buy the one that says Mic Mini. A windscreen for the DJI Mic or Mic 2 is a different capsule and will not seat.
  • Colour is a real choice here. Unlike most accessories, a windscreen is visible on camera, so pick a colour that hides or matches on your subject.
  • Buy a multipack. These are small, easy to lose and cheap in twos, so a two-pack is the sensible default.
  • It is for outdoors. A windscreen earns its place in wind; indoors it does little, so do not expect it to change a desk recording.

Why a DJI Mic 2 windscreen will not fit

The audio aisle lists windscreens for the whole DJI Mic family in one search, and they look almost identical: small furry muffs in the same colours. What differs is the capsule they slip over. The Mic Mini is a smaller, lighter transmitter than the DJI Mic and the Mic 2, so a muff sized for the larger capsules is loose on the Mini and one sized for the Mini will not stretch over the others.

That is why the good listings state the generation outright, often in the title, and it is the one thing to read before you buy. A cover that only says "for DJI Mic" without naming the Mini is the wrong part until it proves otherwise.

What we could not verify

We have not fitted any of these windscreens. DJI publishes the Mic Mini and its capsule; it publishes nothing about a third-party cover, so the fit and the fur density are the sellers, read off the listing on the date shown. If one is loose or muffles speech on your unit, tell us and we will publish your report as the source.

Questions owners ask

Will a DJI Mic 2 windscreen fit the Mic Mini?

No. The Mic Mini transmitter is smaller than the DJI Mic and Mic 2, so a windscreen cut for those is loose and one for the Mini will not stretch over them. Buy the one whose title names the Mic Mini.

Does a windscreen help indoors?

Little. A furry windscreen breaks up moving air, so it earns its place outdoors and in wind. For a still indoor recording it does almost nothing, and a foam cover or none at all is fine.

Why do you not link the DJI Mic Mini itself?

Because it reaches the US mainly through gray third-party sellers, and this site does not link a maker gray-channel hardware. The windscreens here are third-party brands sold through ordinary channels, which the policy does allow.
