Bambu Lab H2D Build Plates: What Fits

The build plate is where the H2D catches people out, because the aisle is full of Bambu Lab plates and most of them are for a different machine. Bambu sells far more X1, P1 and A1 printers than H2D units, and those share a 256 x 256 mm bed. The H2D bed is much larger, with a 350 x 320 mm print area, so a plate cut for the popular smaller printers simply does not cover it.

That single fact sorts the category. A plate that names the H2D or the H2S is cut for this bed; a plate that names the X1 Carbon or the P1S is not, however similar the listings look. The H2S shares the H2D bed, so the two are one buying decision, while the H2C Vortek is a different bed and is out of scope here. Bambu publishes the print area; it publishes nothing about any third-party plate, so every fit below is the seller stating it, read off the listing on the date shown and checked against Bambu's bed rather than taken on faith.

Pick 404

AIYANQI Double-Sided Smooth PEI Plate for H2D/H2S

A double-sided smooth PEI sheet, so you get two smooth faces to alternate as one wears. It names the H2S, H2D and H2D Combo and states the same large sheet size as the others here; the newest of the four and the lightest on feedback, which is worth knowing before you trust it.

What to check before you buy

The size question comes first, then the surface.

  • Name, not looks. Buy a plate whose title says H2D or H2S. A plate for the X1, P1 or A1 is a different bed and will not cover this one.
  • Print area, not sheet outline. The steel sheets read around 355 x 346.5 mm; the number that matters is that they cover the H2D's 350 x 320 mm print area.
  • Textured or smooth. Textured PEI grips harder and leaves a matte bottom; smooth PEI leaves a glossy one and releases differently. This is preference, not fit.
  • A cool plate is for cool-printing materials. It is a surface choice, not a size choice.
  • The H2S owner buys the same plate. The two machines share the bed. The H2C does not, so do not carry a plate across to it.

Why an X1 or P1 plate will not work

This is the whole category in one comparison. Bambu builds the X1, P1 and A1 around a 256 x 256 mm bed, and it builds the H2D around a 350 x 320 mm print area. A plate is a flat sheet sized to a bed, so a 256 mm sheet cannot cover a 350 mm bed. The listings for the smaller plates often outnumber the H2D ones and read almost identically, which is exactly why the mistake is common.

The safe rule is the model name. The plates on this page all name the H2D and H2S and state a sheet size in the mid 350s, which sits over the published print area. Anything naming only the X1 Carbon, the P1S or the A1 is for the small bed no matter how good the reviews are.

What we could not verify

We have not printed on any of these plates. Bambu publishes the bed and the print area; it publishes nothing about a third-party sheet, so the adhesion claims and the exact sheet dimensions are the sellers, read off the listing on the date shown. If a plate seats or releases differently than its listing says, tell us and we will publish your report as the source.

Questions owners ask

Will a Bambu X1 or P1 build plate fit the H2D?

No. The X1, P1 and A1 share a 256 x 256 mm bed, and the H2D has a 350 x 320 mm print area. A plate cut for the smaller bed cannot cover the H2D. Buy a plate whose title names the H2D or H2S.

Is an H2D plate the same as an H2S plate?

Yes. Bambu builds the H2D and H2S on the same bed, so a plate for one fits the other. The sellers list them together for that reason. The H2C Vortek is a different bed and is the exception.

Why do the plates say 355 x 346.5 mm and not 350 x 320 mm?

The larger number is the steel-sheet outline; the smaller one is the bed's heated print area that Bambu publishes. The sheet sits over the print area, so both can be true. Match on the model name and the print area, not the sheet outline.
